about me
.......................

My full name is Benjamin Kiyoshi Guthrie, and I am a recent graduate of the Industrial Design program at the University of Washington. Since graduation I've been contributing my skills to various companies and organizations in need of design elements.

As a student, I learned that working hard is not hard if you love what you do.
I love design. I finished my program as winner of the 2009 IDSA Senior Merit Award, for which I presented my work at the Western District Conference this April in Santa Monica. I’m intrigued by the impact of design, and aspire to improve peoples’ lives in my work. I feel very strongly about sustainability and have recently been volunteering at local bike clinincs and philanthropies. I am excited about the design industry and I hope that continuing in this field will lead me to a life that is enjoyable and successful.

Aside from design, I am a lover of the outdoors, and try to spend as much time as possible enjoying the fresh air. Since graduating from UW, I've relocated to the bay area of CA, and am loving it. I'm currently working part-time at a local bike shop, and am always up for an outdoor activity, whether it's an all-day bike ride or a walk to the farmers market.
