baby travel | sampsonite design project | winter 2008

One of the most vital things for the health of a baby is rest. When traveling, this also becomes one of the most difficult things to achieve. If unable to sleep, a baby will become upset, and an upset baby means an upset everyone.
I chose to design a traveling baby cot that would improve the entire traveling experience for both parents and babies. The final design is a refined collaboration of safety, personalization, ease of use, and portability. It is intended for outdoor and indoor use, incorporating sun shading and bug net protection both of which may be removed for indoor use. The whole structure is air-inflatable, allowing it to become very light and compact for transportation. There is a collapsible floor pump attached, making setup quick and keeping separate parts from getting lost. A layer of durable nylon protects the inflatable mattress and arch support tubes. When done, being used, it is deflated, rolled up around the pump, and easily carried away. .......................
